Montgomery County is pleased to announce that E. Randall Wertz, Montgomery County’s General Registrar of Elections, was elected president of the Voter Registrar’s Association of Virginia (VRAV) for a two-year term.
The VRAV, which represents the registrars in 134 cities and counties throughout Virginia, provides educational opportunities and social interaction for its members. It strives to improve the voter registration election processes and promote efficient administration within the offices of General Registrars. The Association is committed to promoting the highest standards of honest and integrity in conducting open, fair and impartial elections. Additionally, during the VRAV Annual Conference in Fairfax, Virginia, Mr. Wertz completed the certification classes sponsored by the VRAV and The Election Center of Houston, Texas which covers knowledge of the specific requirements of Virginia law and practices related to voter registration and election administration. As a result, he was awarded a diploma and became a Virginia Registered Election Official (VREO). “The VREO designation shows those that we serve that we are dedicated to providing the best service and the highest standards in elections,” stated Mr. Wertz. Randy Wertz, who has held the position of Registrar with the County since April of 2004, also previously served as the Deputy County Administrator for six years. He’s a proud member of the Virginia Tech Class of 1972, where he majored in History and minored in Political Science.
