The City of Roanoke invites citizens and fans of Virginia Tech football to a pep rally to kick off the 2007 season on Friday, Aug. 31, in the Roanoke Ballroom of the Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center. Doors open at 7 p.m.; formal program starts at 8 p.m.
The Voice of the Hokies, Bill Roth, will emcee the event featuring a showcase of academic programs including collaborations between Virginia Tech and the City of Roanoke; the Hokie Bird mascot; Virginia Tech cheerleaders; the Corps of Cadets Highty-Tighties band; and the 2007 Virginia Tech football team. Free promotional items will be distributed to attendees. The final round of the SUBWAY® Super Fan Contest for Virginia Tech Hokie enthusiasts will be held during the pep rally. Judges will ask each of the pre-selected five finalists to demonstrate why they are the No. 1 Virginia Tech Hokie Super Fan. Judges will determine the grand prize winner based on their creativity and enthusiasm. Also, Friday, Aug. 31, marks the 8th annual Hokie Pride Day, which promotes wearing orange and maroon Virginia Tech clothing for the day.
