A male body found floating in Claytor Lake Tuesday afternoon is believed to be that of a Narrows man who fell into the lake on Aug. 8.
According to conservation officers with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, they believe the body found is that of Steven Seymour, 38, of Narrows. Although the body has not been positive identified, clothing and other evidence leads authorities to believe that it is Seymour. Seymour, who was not wearing a life jacket, fell off the boat which was operated by his wife, Rose, when another boat passed them creating a large wake at around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 8. Seymor’s body was found around 3 p.m. near the mouth of Peak Creek by a boater, who than called law enforcement officials. Seymour’s body has been sent to the medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy.
