Five girls who were severely poisioned by carbon monoxide on Sunday are continuing to do better at various hospitals in the region.

The three girls who are at Duke Medical Center, Elizabeth Bergin from Ashburn, Virginia,  Carolyn Dorman from Potomac, Maryland, and Nichole Howarth from Chesterfield, Virginia are still in good condition.  Howarth and Dorman were released late last night from the hospital.

The two most seriously injured girls, Kristin Julia of Vienna, Virginia and Kirsten Halik of Ashburn, Virginia are still being treated at the UVa Medical Center in Charlottesville.  Julia’s condition went from serious back to critical yesterday morning but hospital officials have upgraded her condition back to serious as of last night.  Haliks’ condition has improved for a third straight day as doctors have now upgraded her to fair condition.

All five girls were 19 years of age and sophomores at Virginia Tech.  All are also either on the Virginia Tech Dance Team or the Cheerleading Squad.  We will have further updates on their condition as the hospitals continue to release information.
