FloydFest 6 is in the books and work is now starting for FloydFest 7 as this year’s four-day event came to another successful end Sunday evening.
A large crowd, which was estimated at more than 10,000, roamed the grounds throughout the four days. In fact, on Saturday, people were at least 200 deep waiting to board the shuttle busses at the Chateau Morrisette parking area as early as 10 a.m.The crowd grew as they day went on. This Year’s event featured premier music from such groups as Erik Mograin, The Waybacks, Big Country Bluegrass, to name just a few. Also included were lots of great food, creative arts and crafts and a variety of children’s activities. “I think this is awesome,” said Tiara McBroom of Floyd, as she danced near the stage as one of the bands played. “I have been here five out of six years and I’m so glad that they have continued it.” While many relaxed enjoying their favorite cold beverage, while listening to the music, others could be found dancing, while some was even spotted sleeping along the hillside. “This is our third time here,” said Helen of Falls Church, Va., who, along with her husband was watching their son ride the mechanical bull. “This is such a great festival because the music is great and the crowd is friendly." As the weekend went on, many people came and went through the gates. But the one thing I heard the most from people were how much fun they had.
