Roanoke Police Department Begins Extra Traffic Enforcement Written by Ronald D. Walton    Friday, 09 November 2007 The Roanoke Police Department has begun its increased traffic enforcement in preparation for the holiday season. As a result of the increased enforcement, officers working on November 6, 2007 wrote 109 traffic summonses for various violations. The department is enforcing traffic safety laws with zero tolerance in an effort to decrease crashes as drivers travel during the holiday season. Blacksburg Teen Runs Into Sub Station II

At noon today, a Honda Accord went through the wall and window exterior of the Sub Station II in Blacksburg while pulling into a parking space. Police determined that 19 year old Blacksburg native and Virginia Tech student Ethan Wechtaluk's foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator sending the vehicle into the restaurant.  Damage to the vehicle exceeded $4,00 and damage to the building is estimated at $25,000.  Wechtaluk was charged with reckless driving.
