Where can you find two days of continuous live music (including a James Brown tribute band), a giant beach party, a one mile road race, and over 170 craft vendors from all over the United States?

If you said this year’s Steppin’ Out, you’d be correct!  The 27th annual street festival kicks off in Downtown Blacksburg at 10am on Friday August 3rd and concludes at 10pm on Saturday August 4th.  Admission is free and Blacksburg Transit provides free shuttles for your convenience!  In addition to the frenzy of craft vendors, you can expect two stages of continuous live music, tasty food by downtown restaurants, and the highly anticipated Downtown merchant sidewalk sales.  The Annual Draper Miler road race will also be occurring on Friday at 6:30pm starting on Draper Road and finishing in the middle of the street festival.  Looking for somewhere to go when the festival winds down?  Cabo Fish Taco will be holding a giant beach party Saturday evening for your entertainment.

The annual Steppin’ Out t-shirt features a band of musical frogs and was designed by Forrest Worley, 25, a Blacksburg High School alumnus.  Worley is the fulltime photographer and graphic designer at the Campus Emporium and this is his second win in two years.  Adult shirts are now available at For the Birds, Campus Emporium, Xanadu Home, High Peak Sportswear, and Chocolate Spike.  Children’s shirts are only available at Fringer Benefit and High Peak Sportswear.

If you’re a regular Steppin’ Out attendee, be aware of the following changes:

  • the main stage has moved to Henderson Lawn
  • a shaded food court at College Avenue and Draper Road
  • the community stage moves to Jackson Street
  • crafters will line Main Street all the way to Lee, where the beach party will take place

Mark your calendars and come out to enjoy the best that Downtown Blacksburg has to offer!

Steppin Out is sponsored by Downtown Merchants of Blacksburg.
