In a matter of seconds a woman in Pulaski County went from Good Samaritan to a crime victim.
The woman witnessed a bad accident, so she did what a lot of folks would do. She ran to get help. But when she got back her kindness was not repaid. The person she was trying to help stole her car. Police say the woman asked not to be identified. With the help of the Pulaski and Montgomery County Sheriffs Offices, State Police found her Nissan Sentra seven hours later in a field off Rock Road in Radford. They believe they have found the driver who wrecked the first car. They suspect it was 25-year-old Gene Russell Meadows. Meadows is facing a laundry list of charges, including grand larceny, and reckless driving. Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the accident. In matter of seconds, Meadows went from facing misdemeanor driving charges to a felony which carries up to 20 years in prison Police say everything that happened to this woman was unfortunate, but they don't want this story to discourage others from helping accident victims.
