A large crowd turned out Saturday for the 2nd Annual Floyd Harvest Festival and County Fair held at the county’s recreation park.
With limited on-site parking, the shuttle buses were bringing in festival-goers left and right, as they piled off the buses, there were plenty of activities for them to take in. “Our crowd has been great today,” said Dawn Barnes, one of the festival organizers. “The weather turned out perfect for us today compared to the rain yesterday.” The Paul C. Webb Youth Center (barn) featured many 4-H exhibits from area youth and adults. Some of the items included photographs to vegetables. There were several ladies making a quilt inside the barn exhibition area. As one strolled the grounds, you could find vendors selling homemade salsa to homemade bake goods. There were exhibits demonstrating tatting, basket making, spinning and lots more. “I love this salsa,” said a lady, as she tasted a sample. It must have been good, as she immediately purchased two small jars of it. For the children, there was face painting, pumpkin painting, moonwalks, a dunking booth and lots more. A good crowd took in the livestock show, which featured a goat show, a market lamb show and a beef cattle show. The third annual Floyd Harvest Festival is scheduled for Sept. 20, 2008.
