| Floyd Harvest Festival & County Fair Is Today |

Area residents will have a chance to celebrate Floyd County’s agriculture and heritage today, as the 2nd annual Floyd Harvest Festival and County Fair will take place at the county’s recreational park and the Paul C. Webb Youth Center.
There will be a full day of exhibits, music, heritage art demonstrations, games and much more going on from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Our first fair last year was very successful,” said Dawn Barnes, one of the event organizers. “We had more than 600 people last year and we’re expecting more this year.” Some of the activities include a 4-H Livestock show, youth and adult fair exhibits, antique farm equipment, a hog calling contest, cow patty bingo and lots of live music. “We will have a lot going on to please everyone,” Barnes stated. “We will have 12 vendors this year, which is an increase over last year’s, plus we 12 Heritage Artesian vendors as well.” “Our fair exhibits are just like the kind you see at the old county fairs were children and adults can compete for ribbons,” said Barnes. “We will have everything from photography exhibits to home grown vegetables.” Organizers are reminding everyone to park at the Floyd Elementary School, Floyd United Methodist Church (on North Main), Floyd County Courthouse or Citizens Communications and ride the shuttle. Only handicap parking will be allowed at the recreation park. There is a $2 entrance fee for those 12 and up. No pets or alcoholic beverages are allowed. In addition to the Floyd Harvest Festival and County Fair, there will be several other events taking place in Floyd, including historical walking tours of Downtown Floyd; free music at the Country Store, free art demonstrations and a horse pull at the Jacksonville Center; A Taste of Floyd (slow-food event) and several other activities will be taken place as well. “We invite everyone to come out and enjoy some of the many events we have going on in Floyd on Saturday.” Barnes said.
