Weather permitting, a portion of Route 685 (Keagy Road) in Roanoke County will be closed at 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9 and remain closed through midnight, Sunday, Nov. 11 for utility relocation. |

Once again the Center for Digital Government has named the City of Roanoke as a Leading Digital City. Roanoke ranked second in the nation for 2007 among the cities in the 75,000 to 124,999 population category. Santa Monica, Calif., was awarded first place in the category. Other top award winners for their population size are Aurora, Colo.; Lincoln, Neb.; Juniper, Fla.; and Lynchburg, Va. Roanoke was ranked first in the survey in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2006. " |

On Monday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m., Roanoke Public Schools will host a Community Report on the "Promise of Roanoke" initiative in the auditorium of Stonewall Jackson Middle School, located at 1004 Montrose Ave. SE. This citizen-led initiative takes a broad look across the city to identify what should be done to prepare the children in our community to succeed as students in the public education system, and in life. |
